IRRAWADDY LITERARY FESTIVAL Mandalay, Myanmar
April/May 2015
In Mandalay, the evening breeze brings with it memories from the sea. These memories frolic through the spaces and pauses of a festival ripe with togetherness and truthfulness. No more than thirty-odd international writers join a handful of Burmese poets and fictionists. Most nights end at the majestic hotel’s Irish bar, where whiskies are poured neat and stories are served straight. Siddharth occupies two sessions: a panel discussion on ethnic narratives; and a reading of his book. He comes away touched, if not changed.
