Sathya Saran invites a carefully chosen bunch over to the remarkable township of Vidyanagar, wedded to the town of Hampi. Over 10 days, the 10 writers meditate, converse, explore, discover, and emerge with a ripe canvas of words. Housed in a wonderful, verant museum space and with frequent excursions to Hampi, The Unfestival is as much about unknowing, as knowing. The writers banter over their written words over daily chai sessions. Siddharth, Sathya, Prajwal Parajuly, Rochelle DeSilva, Madhulika Liddle, and others come away bonded by the shared experience. Later that year, the consequence of their labours—a lavishly mounted anthology that packs in every tremor and emergence from a remarkable literary adventure.
